The role of the private sector in the humanitarian response. Complete the survey!

Calls for the mobilization of private actors are heard in different contexts and discussions in the humanitarian sector. Whether linked to research and innovation or to subcontracting practices with the aim of mobilising the private sector’s skills and expertise, externalising service provision in protracted crises or in emergency response seems to be a growing trend.  In order to be able to have a more objective view of this trend. Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) Operational Centre Barcelona has commissioned a research looking into the current practices and prospective trends.

The objective of this survey is to produce a better overview of the current role of the private sector in the humanitarian and emergency response.

Key survey questions include:

-                Mapping of practices: what is done/ by whom/ for what reason

-                Identification of the most likely future scenarios regarding the private sector’s engagement in emergency contexts

-                Identification/flagging of concerns regarding practices and trends.

The survey should take approximately 15 minutes. We welcome responses from HQs, field, expatriate personnel and local staff. Please feel free to disseminate the survey to your staff and other colleagues in the sector.
