Moving forward the localisation agenda of EU humanitarian aid

The localisation of aid has appeared over the past years as one of the most pressing issues in the humanitarian system. In March 2021, the EC Communication on Humanitarian Action, a major EU policy document for the sector, announced that DG ECHO commits to provide greater support to local humanitarian actors. This commitment entails the development of a guidance to promote equal partnerships in line with the Grand Bargain 2.0 commitments. Over summer, DG ECHO kick-started the process to implement this commitment, by running a consultation with a wide range of stakeholders, collecting views and perspectives on how the EU can support the localisation of aid. The VOICE network is monitoring closely the development of this new guidance and participated actively in the consultation process. We will keep you posted on any future updates.
