World Humanitarian Day 2024

World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is commemorated every year on August 19th to pay tribute to aid workers who dedicate their lives to humanitarian service. The origins of this observance trace back to the 2003 bombing of the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, which resulted in the tragic loss of 22 lives.

This Year's Campaign: #ActForHumanity

The 2024 WHD campaign, #ActForHumanity, focuses on addressing the alarming rise in attacks against humanitarian workers and civilians, advocating for the enforcement of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) to end impunity for these violations.

VOICE Participation

As in previous years, VOICE will actively participate in the #ActForHumanity campaign. We will leverage our communication channels, including X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn, to amplify campaign messages and support humanitarian partners. Additionally, we will share a dedicated toolkit to help VOICE members engage in the campaign.
