INTERSOS: Rome Humanitarian Congress

INTERSOS is pleased to invite you to the fifth edition of the Rome Humanitarian Congress. 

This year’s theme is “Contested Spaces: Engagement, Legitimacy and Access in Turbulent Times”. Bringing together high-level leaders, experts and practitioners, the congress will foster a critical debate on the evolving challenges, operational dilemmas, and future prospects of humanitarian action. 

The first session titled "Engagement and Legitimacy: an Analysis of the Global Crisis in Humanitarian Access" will address the progressive erosion of operational legitimacy that increasingly challenges humanitarian organisations, risking their marginalisation or expulsion from various crisis theaters. 

In the late morning, the session titled “Humanitarian Access and Strategic Engagement in the Sahel” will focus on the operational challenges within the Sahel, a critical test case where international humanitarian organisations face escalating hostility, resulting in severe restrictions.

Lastly, the panel in the afternoon, titled "Global Health Crises and the Evolution of Humanitarian Operational Paradigms" will focus on the urgent necessity of re-evaluating existing frameworks as disease control and healthcare delivery systems face unprecedented systemic pressure.
