Cities across the Global South face increasing instability driven by conflict, climate change, economic shocks, and deepening inequalities, prompting the need for the international community to rethink its approach to supporting these vulnerable areas.

With over 1 billion people living in informal settlements, many of them displaced by conflict and climate disasters, fragile urban environments are struggling to provide adequate housing, infrastructure, and services. These pressures risk destabilizing local economies and communities.

The event aims to inspire European leaders to enhance investments, particularly through Official Development Assistance (ODA), to build resilient, inclusive cities that can withstand these challenges and support sustainable development.
