Gonzalo is the Strategic Partnerships Director of Relief International in Europe, UK, Middle East and Asia. With Relief International he also worked as Country Director, leading the scale up of their biggest operation in Syria with a team of over 2,000 people and a vast health and protection program.
With respect to his experience on coordination structures and governance, he was part of different boards of INGO networks in Syria and Palestine with an strong focus on advocacy and IHL; and he also worked as a Senior Humanitarian Adviser for the Minister of Social Solidarity of Timor Leste, supporting policy development, and assisting at Council of Ministers and Parliamentary sessions.
Gonzalo has a solid program and operational background working for the last 18 years’ on the humanitarian, development and peacebuilding sectors across multiple countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law, a Master in Humanitarian Aid, International Development, Migration and Asylum, and he collaborates as a coach for the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership at Deakin University in Melbourne.
