Key insights from Mozambique, Madagascar, and Malawi reveal how empowering communities to lead their own crisis responses can result in swifter, more adaptive, and cost-effective local actions. By implementing Community Cash Grants, these communities have been able to autonomously allocate resources, enhancing their resilience and response capabilities. Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe also highlights the importance of investing in localisation initiatives. Rather than reinventing the wheel, their focus has been on complementing existing National Coordination Mechanisms and empowering local response mechanisms. Despite challenges such as logistical constraints and funding tools, the critical role of Crisis Modifiers and alternative financing mechanisms is underscored for timely AA responses.
