COP29: VOICE members on the spotlight

COP29, the 29th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 November to 22 November 2024.

For the  second time, there will be a  Humanitarian Hub at COP29 from 15-22 November to highlight the impact of climate crisis-related extreme weather events on people in crisis situations and showcase solutions especially at the local level.

As stated in the VOICE Position Paper “The humanitarian NGOs’ perspective on climate resilience”, climate change and environmental degradation have become primary root causes of humanitarian crises around the world, generating food insecurity, water shortages, displacement and threatening livelihoods. Climate change acts as a “threat multiplier” that amplifies existing risks and inequalities in already fragile contexts. This is why the connection between humanitarian and climate is more relevant than ever and it is imperative that a space for humanitarians is in place so they can have their say on the devastating consequences of climate-related disasters.

On this occasion, several VOICE members are active to make sure the voice of humanitarian NGOs is heard in the discussions. Please, find below a list of VOICE members’ statements and events around the COP29:
