Pilar Martinez Sanchez

Pilar Martínez Sánchez is Director of International Operations at Médecins du Monde Belgium, part of the Medecins du Monde (MdM) International Network working in 10 European countries and 65 worldwide.  With over 20 years of experience in humanitarian and social development contexts, Pilar brings strong expertise in protection, international humanitarian law, and access to healthcare and protection in fragile and conflict-affected settings. She has held leadership roles in Espain, Morocco, Afghanistan, Togo, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, combining field-based operational management with strategic advocacy and partnership development.

Since 2021 she is based in Brussels as part of the Executive Direction team of Médecins du Monde. Pilar is particularly committed to universal access to health and to sexual and reproductive rights as well as with localisation.
